These days, when shooting with a model in my studio, I start with Tintypes. They're labor intensive, slow, deliberate and allow us to settle in to a mode of creating. The chemistry and lighting is fickle. Every once in a while, nothing great comes out of it. Sometimes, like this, every shot is a keeper. One of the things that really hooked me about shooting wet plate, is the instant gratification. You see an image, a unique one of a kind image, appear in front of you in the dark room, immediately after shooting it. You make adjustments, go back for more, try again, or try something different. It reminds me of shooting large format Polaroid. I really miss that film. Type 55 was the shit.
So, in the spirit of that, this post is comprised of all the instant mediums Mélodie and I shot together on this day. Tintype, Polaroid 600 Reclaimed Purple, Instax square in a Hasselblad back and Instax Wide. . . I think that covers it. Something special about this stuff.
As a reminder, there are two tiers available on Patreon that get you one of these rare pieces to keep. A Polaroid, or the highest tier, an original Tintype. Mailed to you once a month. It's nice to hold something in your hands.
